Home of " A Little Bag " anti-static product. Ideas & How To's..... ACRYLIC TEMPLATES AID IN IMAGE PLACEMENT (by: Gayle Page-Robak) I have been using the square, rectangular, oval and circle acrylic templates for years. Mine are Evo templates, but there are others, I believe. Many of you may have them, they graduate in sizes so that you can cut your paper stock, etc. into layers, or you can place them over an image and cut around it. After years of using them cutting around images I finally had a brain-wave that would ensure that all my "margin" areas around the image would be equal and it was really quite simple after giving it some thought. I now have taken each acrylic template, and marked the center, and each quadrant, or corner, with a permanent marker so it is sim Read More

Can I Stamp on This?

Can I Stamp On This? Text and Samples by Tyra L. Smith F rom a stamp artist's perspective, there are five basic types of cardstocks . Click on a link below for a discussion of that type of cardstock. Glossy Cardstoc ks Semi- Coated Matte Cardstoc ks Matte Cardstoc ks Translucent V ellums Specialty Cardstocks One of the major differences between Glossy Cardstocks, Semi-Coated Matte Cardstocks, and Matte Cardstocks is the degree of "tooth" -- the ability of a cardstock to "grab" and hold certain media like chalks, pastels, powdered pigments, etc. Glossy cardstocks have NO tooth, and very little (if any) absorbency. Semi-Coated Matte Cardstocks have LITTLE tooth, and moderate absorbency. And Matte Cardstocks have LOTS of tooth, and high absorbency. While the texture of a c Read More

Gotcha Images - TIPS / TECHNIQUES

TIPS / TECHNIQUES As many of you know, I love to cook. Well, here are a few "RECIPES" I've picked up from various sources: NATURE STAMPING Now that Spring is here and all the trees are in leaf again, give this a try... All you really need aside from some nice leaves from the garden, are some liquid inks, watercolors or acrylics and a brush. (You can even use food coloring for this project or leftover Easter egg dyes) Brush the color(s) on the underside of the leaves, turn the leaf over onto your cardstock, cover it with a piece of plastic wrap or paper towel,(to protect your fingers) and press it gently against the paper. When you lift the leaf up, you should have a lovely print! Try it with various types of leaves. It's lots of fun, and very addictive, I warn you! Happy stamping! Barbara Read More

How to Make a Rubber Stamp - Page 1 of 4

Votes:0
H ow to M ake a R ubber S tamp by Der Mad Stamper You can make your own rubber stamps by carving up erasers... F irst, you'll need a pattern. Find (or draw) a black and white image with wide, bold lines. It can be anything you like... a cartoon, a symbol, your name... just make sure it's small enough to fit on an eraser. Use tracing paper and a soft (#2) lead pencil to copy the image. Fill in the black areas darkly, so as to leave a heavy, shining coat of pencil lead on the paper. Next, you need an eraser. You can use white vinyl erasers, green rubber erasers, or hard red rubber ("Pink Pearl") erasers. Some people prefer to carve vinyl ("Staedtler-Mars") erasers because they cut easily and make a clear, bold impression. However, for thin-line, finely detailed stamps, I prefer the Read More

Mounting

Mounting By mounting your own stamps you can save lots of money. You still need to buy your foam and wood blocks but you don't have to pay someone to mount and index them. One of the things you need is a good pair of scissors. KAI brand are highly recommended for cutting rubber and foam. When you are going to be cutting through a "sticky" foam coat you scissors with embossing ink and it won't gum up as quickly. When they do gum up use "Un-Du" or "Goo Gone" to remove the adhesive from your scissors. Another new tool for cutting that I found in my husband garage is his scroll saw. I mount my rubber onto the sticky foam and then cut around the images. I can get in tight spots and cut real close. When the blade seems to gum up I just toss it and start with a fresh Read More

Polymer Clay Central - Rubber Stamping on Polymer Clay 1

T here are a number of polymer clays available, Fimo being the easiest to get in Britain (where I live). The only problem with Fimo is that it is very crumbly to begin with and requires a lot of working in the hands (rolling and kneading) to get it to a useful consistency. For the purposes of stamping, a softer clay such as Sculpey or Cernit is preferable. Note that although paper clay is a different material, and much lighter and more delicate than the oven bake (polymer) clays, most of the following can be done with that too, as well as other air-dry clays. Always follow the manufacturer's baking instructions, as the clays may vary a little. Some Fimo colours, for example, need lower temperatures than others. There are several methods of stamping into oven bake clay. The first, and proba Read More
